Tarmac is still one of the hardest-working surfaces you can put down. HPM installs new driveways, access roads, parking areas and commercial yards across the Isle of Man, with the preparation handled just as carefully as the final wearing course. We excavate to the right depth, build a properly compacted sub-base, set drainage and edges, then lay and roll the asphalt for a clean, even finish.
Island weather is hard on shortcuts. Poor bases move, water finds weak points and thin surfaces break up. Jaye and the HPM crew price the full job properly from the start, using the right specification for the traffic the surface needs to carry. Good block paving starts below the blocks. HPM prepares the ground, compacts the sub-base and sets accurate falls so water moves where it should. Edges are restrained properly, cuts are kept neat and the finished pattern stays consistent across driveways, paths, courtyards and larger commercial areas. We can also use contrasting borders or practical changes in colour to define parking bays, entrances and routes.
For patio areas, the same attention goes into porcelain, slate-effect paving and natural stone. Jaye can talk through colours, laying patterns and how the new surface should meet doors, walls, lawns and existing paths. The HPM crew handles the complete installation, including excavation and drainage, leaving a sharp finish built for regular use and Isle of Man conditions.

A patio should feel like part of the property, not an afterthought. HPM installs porcelain, natural stone and slate-effect paving for gardens, seating areas, paths and outdoor entertaining spaces across the Isle of Man. Options range from clean contemporary slabs with tight joints to more traditional stone layouts that suit older Manx homes and rural settings.
Every patio is laid with the levels and drainage worked out first. We prepare a stable base, create controlled falls away from buildings and plan edges, steps and transitions so the finished area works as well as it looks. Water needs a planned route off every driveway, yard and building plot. HPM installs surface water channels, gullies, land drains and soakaways, and can correct problem areas where standing water or saturated ground is already causing damage. Levels, outlet positions and ground conditions are assessed before work starts, rather than trying to solve drainage after the surface is finished.
Drainage is also built into our driveway installations from day one. Permeable build-ups and resin bound surfacing can form part of a SuDS-compliant solution, helping rainwater return to the ground instead of being pushed onto the road or neighbouring land. Where a different surface is specified, Jaye and the HPM crew design the falls and collection system around it, keeping the whole installation practical, compliant and ready for Isle of Man weather.

HPM carries out groundworks and civil engineering packages for residential and commercial projects across the Isle of Man. That includes foundations, retaining walls, drainage, service trenches, concrete preparation, access construction and full site preparation before the next trade arrives. We work from drawings where required, coordinate levels carefully and keep the job moving with our own plant, operators and haulage.
The important work is often the work nobody sees once the project is finished. Excavation depth, compaction, reinforcement and water management all have to be right before anything is covered. Jaye stays accountable from the site visit through to completion, with the HPM crew delivering the package directly rather than passing key stages between subcontractors. HPM undertakes footing excavations, reduced-level digs, oversites and slab preparation for extensions, new homes, garages and commercial buildings across the Isle of Man. We work to the project dimensions and required depths, manage excavated material and prepare the formation so reinforcement, concrete and follow-on construction can proceed without delays.
Ground conditions vary across the island, so the approach has to suit the actual site. Jaye reviews access, levels, drainage and spoil handling before the digger starts. The HPM crew then completes the excavation and groundworks with its own plant and experienced operators, keeping the area organised and the levels accurate. Whether it is a single extension footing or a wider construction package, the aim is simple: solid preparation for everything built above it.

From a tight residential dig to full site clearance, HPM has the plant and operators to handle excavation work across the Isle of Man. Services include reduced-level digs, trenching, foundation excavation, driveway dig-outs, landscaping preparation, muck away and clearance of unsuitable material. Our machines are operated by the HPM crew, so the person on the controls understands the wider job rather than treating it as a standalone hire.
Owning the plant also keeps projects moving. Excavators, transport and haulage can be coordinated together, with spoil removed and aggregates delivered without relying on several separate contractors. Jaye assesses access and ground conditions before work begins, then matches the machine and approach to the site. For customers who need operated plant hire, the same practical service is available with an experienced operator included.
